A walk in rain

A Walk of Life......................

It is truly the reason why people miss institute life, you wont get such freedom ever in your entire life. This is something what we experienced today by walking in rain at !:00 AM after our end sem exam was over, there was a powercut and it was raining . So we decided to have a walk in the rain and one of my friend suggested of having a round of the campus and we just moved to have a "Walk of Life", "A Walk to Remember", a walk which we will definitely miss in our entire life as one can never get such a protected environment to move around whenever one wishes to- be it mid day or mid night it hardly matters here. What matters is that you had wished to do something so it need to be fulfilled. This is the reason why the students or say Techies miss their institute days.

On our walk we felt  each and every drop of rain as it fell on our body, the whistling of leaves, the scent of soil, the cool breeze, the moment which we were going to miss as soon as we leave the Institute,we couldn't find any one loitering in the campus premises in shorts like us, going right through the hostel area to the Institute campus upto SAC and then returning through the AV hall pathway. We even went to the site where construction is going on to have our expert comment and suggestion and have discussion among ourselves about the infrastructural development going in our campus.

It was fun and as said a walk which we will definitely miss as we get out of this instiute, as after that we were not be able to meet such friends so frequently neither will we have such protected environment to have a walk, or do whatever you wish like, at whatever time you want.

I think I am surely going to miss this walk not just because it was with some dear friends but also because it was in such a protected place(NIT Rourkela). 

Two and Half hours of pure fun.

It was on 2nd of April, 2010 that our wait for celebrity night (which was going on since NITRUtsav ended) was finally over when Pritam Chakraborty and his band Metro came up and took the charge, to perform for the people of Rourkela (especially students of NIT Rourkela). It was two and half hour of non-stop fun until his show was over. He rocked the stage with his composed melodies, all time favorite songs like Alvida…….., In-dino……., Singh is king (in which he used the word NIT instead of Singh is king), Teri ore….., Dhan-te-nan……., Mauza hi- mauza…, Twist……..,Jannat…..,Hai junoon…….. , Dhoom……..Hare ram-hare ram…….. and many more… melodies and all hit tracks composed by him. He had came with his band “Metro” in which lead singer was Soham Chakraborty , Suhail Kaul, and two girls Antara Mitra(Indian Idol fame)and Shraddha Pandit.

Pritam Chakraborty, I think is a very generous man as he waved to the audience waiting for him in the stadium as soon as he entered. The audience was getting annoyed due to delay caused due to some problem in sound generator but he in spite of that came up to the stage and asked his sound engineer to get it done and to inform him but he didn’t wasted any time and told that “I am getting as impatient as audience waiting out here” and started the show. He then sang back to back his hit track and thereby introduced his band members. All members in his band were very good. He insisted to learn the slogan of NIT Rourkela and for that he invited one of the student volunteer to teach him the slogan and then he said it repeatedly for too many times, sometimes without music and then with putting some music to it. He is just so energetic he used to jump off the stage and come in between us to sing and dance with us. He even asked the security guys to led boys some in front of the stage to dance but due to last years incident extra security was present to curb off all mischief. He even insisted that nothing is going to happen. He even had a competition with us that lets see who first get tired and believe me it was us who lose as he was just so energetic that nothing happened to him. He even brought Antara and Shraddha down the stage in between the audience to dance with us. He asked Suhail to strip as he told is demand of public so it has to be fulfilled. Hats off to you. We generally have an intuition that people in the lime light are arrogant but believe me he is just opposite (according to me).

Cheers to the Film and Music society NIT Rourkela for bringing Pritam and his band “Metro” for us to perform in the celebrity night…………….
